Manu Brazo・Saxophone & Clarinet
Spanish saxophonist Manu Brazo was born in Sevilla in 1993.
He recently completed his undergraduate studies in performance at the “Conservatorio Superior de Música Manuel Castillo” of Sevilla with one of the highest marks in his year and winning Honor Prize in “Repertoire with pianist” modules two consecutive years.
Nowadays Manu is studying a Master in Performance at the Royal College of Music in London with the saxophone teacher Kyle Horch. He is an RCM scholar supported by Dr Michael West.
He has the 2017 "Guildford Symphony Orchestra Competition for Young Soloists; Jellinek Award", which will allow him to play Glazounov' Saxophone Concerto with Guildford Symphony Orchestra in February 2017.
In his last course he was awarded first prize in the 2016 Concerto Competition at Conservatorio Superior de Musica Manuel Castillo of Sevilla, which qualifies him to perform with the (OSC) University of Seville and Conservatory of Sevilla Symphony Orchestra next March, moreover, he has been selected to play Ravel Bolero with RCM Philarmonic next December.
He has won many local and national prizes performing solo, in various chamber music groups, and also as the saxophonist in a pop/rock band.
Manu plays the baritone saxophone in “SQ4” saxophone quartet, with which he has won several Chamber Music awards, which has allowed them to perform for national and international radio and TV channels and also in many notable venues as the “Teatro de la Maestranza” in Sevilla or “MAMA” (modern art museum) in Algeria.
Manu has taken masterclasses with many of the best-known saxophone teachers from all over the world including Claude Delangle, Timothy McAllister, Johan van der Linden, Arno Bornkamp, Otis Murphy, Alfonso Padilla, Christian Wirth, Jean-Denis Michat, Vincent David, José Antonio Santos, Chien Kwan Lin, Francisco Martínez, Juani Palop, David Alonso, Eric Devallon, Joël Versavaud, Julien Petit, Manuel Mijan...
He has performed all types of music, from pop or jazz to contemporary music, in many concerts and at festivals, playing solo, in chamber music groups or orchestras, bands and saxophone ensembles.
